The 2nd Annual Celebrating Foreign Language Education: A Monterey Bay Symposium will bring together teachers from throughout the Monterey Bay area, strengthening the connection between MIIS and the local community. We are honored to have Dr. Peter DeCosta as our opening keynote speaker. We have also invited speakers from local institutions such as Stevenson School and the Defense Language Institute. The symposium will directly provide academic and professional support to students in the TESOL and TFL programs at MIIS, allowing them to share ideas with local teachers, bringing their learning outside the classroom and into real-world practical applications.
FAQs
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Please bring your e-ticket along with a photo ID in order of our conference volunteers to sign you in on the day of the event. There are no age requirements for this event.
What are my parking options for the event?
The Monterey Institute will provide some spaces in our parking structure, but spaces are limited and priority is given to students, faculty and staff.
The City of Monterey offers parking at a daily rate: East Parking Structure, 340 Tyler Street, Monterey, CA 93940 The parking strucute has gate operated entrances with a $7 flat entry fee per day. They accept coin, bills and Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit cards.
Street parking is available but limited to two hours on Saturdays.
Directions from downtown: follow East Franklin Street west four blocks to Pierce Street and turn left onto Pierce.
